Why Install A Combi Boiler
Currently, combi boilers are the most popular boiler type used in UK homes. Owing to the reason that they are cost and energy efficient. Since 2004, energy used for water heating has decreased in the proportion of household by around 21%, according to the United Kingdom’s Housing Energy Fact File.
The most common types existing in the UK are the oil and gas combi boilers. Since 2005, only condensing boilers are installed in UK homes, as a result of new building regulations. Condensing combi boilers are considered 25% more energy efficient than the non-condensing ones. The combi boiler installation process and cost are considered quicker and easier compared to the other types that exist on the market.
The Benefits of a Gas Central Heating System
Modern central heating systems can effectively guarantee reduced energy bills all year around. Upgrading a central heating system could save up to 30% off your annual gas bill. Modern A-rated central heating system featuring a condensing boiler with heating controls are much more efficient than older boilers. Gas central heating is usually cheaper than electric or oil powered heating
Better for your health
Central heating systems are known to help prevent various health problems such as
- Heart attacks
Central heating also guards against condensation and mould growth, which can be a problem with storage heaters
Help the environment
Central heating systems not only help with the cost of energy bills, but it can also lower carbon dioxide emissions and therefore help the environment. Gas central heating only emits water and carbon dioxide and so does not require regular maintenance such as cleaning both the heater and the chimney from combustion residues.
Peace of mind
Central heating systems can be fully controlled. With the use of a timer, room thermostat, and thermostatic radiator valves you can set each room to a different temperature or set the timer to a certain time so that you can wake up to a lovely warmth instead of waiting ages for storage heaters to heat up
What is the difference between a combi boiler and a conventional boiler?
Combi boilers provide instant hot water as well as taking care of your heating needs. Combi boilers have the advantage of freeing up space in a home, because there’s no need for a hot water tank (cylinder) like there is with a conventional boiler.
In most cases, heating water instantly is more energy-efficient than ‘stored’ hot water systems. Modern boilers generally no longer have tanks in the loft to ‘pressurise’ the system through gravity. Instead they are sealed systems
How does a wet central heating system work?
With a ‘wet system’ hot water circulates through a system of pipes that connect to the radiators throughout a house. At the centre of the system, a boiler burns a fuel – or sometimes there is a ‘heat exchanger’ and this heats the water that feeds the network of pipes. ‘Wet systems’ are the most popular form of heating system in the UK.
Despite their name, do not just give off radiant heat, in fact, they deliver most of their heat through convection; air warmed by the radiator naturally rises, and cool air falls relative to it, as a result, the warmed air circulates and the ‘space’ in a room is warmed.
How Do You fit a Central Heating System?
Although the actual job to install central heating is complex, the tasks can be narrowed down 7 main steps.
- Select the boiler type and radiator models depending on your needs and adequacy to your home.
- Find the right space for your boiler and Install the boiler and its various components.
- Fit the radiators in rooms around your home.
- Lay pipes throughout your house and connected to valves of the boiler, radiators, water tanks, and outlets.
- Ensure all radiator vents are closed and fill the system with water. Vent through each radiator to dislodge as much air as possible.
- Turn on the boiler to heat up the water. Balance the flow of hot water on each radiator by using the valves.
- you will need an accredited contractor to connect to the gas supply and inspect that everything is installed properly
